Office of Sustainability
Mason’s Office of Sustainability promotes physical, social, and community well-being by using the university’s strengths–innovation, responsiveness, flexibility, and community– to provide lead environmental, social, and economic stewardship. The office focuses on the university’s campus, local, and global communities.
The Office of Sustainability provides numerous opportunities for Mason students, faculty and staff to engage in programs and activities promoting individual and community well-being. Examples include:
- Sustainability Living Learning Community
- Student groups
- Green Patriots peer-to-peer outreach program for faculty and staff as well as for students.
In spring, 2014, the Office of Sustainability created and hosted the Sustain the Sustainer Retreat as part of Spring Into Well-Being. This weekend retreat for Mason students, staff, and faculty focused on:
- Building resilience through self-reflection, meditation, and yoga.
- Connecting to nature, religion, and spirituality to help foster sustainable environmental changes.
